UNASL Interschool Masterminds Competition 2019
The United Nations Association of Sri Lanka (UNASL) conducted the “UNASL Interschool Masterminds Competition 2019” on 26th October, 2019 (morning) at the Saffron Beach Hotel, Wadduwa to promote the concept of Life Long Learning and enhance the knowledge of school children whilst as the same time giving them an opportunity of interacting with great minds. We invited 50 Schools to participate in this event free of cost.
The competition was conducted as a team event with Three Students to a Team from each School. There were six rounds of 10 questions each covering the UN and UNASL, International Affairs, Human Rights, Sustainable Development, Health & Hygiene (Diabetes), Current Affairs, Constitution of Sri Lanka & General Knowledge. All questions were in the form of MCQ.
The following School Teams became Winners and Runners-up and were awarded very attractive Cash Prizes, Trophies, Medals and Certificates:
- Winner : Mahanama College, Colombo 3.
- 1st Runner-up : Mahaaya Girls College, Kandy
- 2nd Runner-up : Richmond College, Galle
- 3rd Runner-up : Sujatha Vidyalaya, Matara
- 4th Runner-up : Dammasira National School, Nattandiya
The Winning Teams received cash awards of Rs.100,000/=, Rs.75,000/=, Rs.50,000/=, Rs.25,000/= and Rs. 15,000/= and in addition they also received trophies, medals and certificates. Further, all participants were also issued with a certificate of participation.
This Mastermind Competition was a new experience and an exciting event for participating students. Further, it was an extremely colourful event and a resounding success.
Refreshments and Lunch were provided to all participants, teachers, parents, etc.
